Even when we didn’t know this new addition was a girl, I knew I wanted something with a bold teal. I love teal. Most of my maternity shirts are some how teal (drawn to what we love much?). Downstairs we have a lighter teal blue matched with brown, so in the baby’s room I wanted to use a bolder color teal and thought using a gender neutral gray would be a good match for either a boy or girl. I also really love birds and owls; something about them are just wise, peaceful, and beautiful so I was going to throw that in as a theme as well.

Then, we changed our minds about not finding out and while my overall ideas have stayed the same, its been nice to be able to make a girly tweak to it (like flowery prints and maybe a little pink accent?) and actually get to shopping for real products and fabrics.  Once getting to stores though and seeing what was available in person, not just some nursery and random ideas on Pintrest, my vision shifted a bit.

Here’s what I’ve got so far:

What your looking at:  

-Wall colors will be a light gray with 1 teal accent wall where the crib will be

-Teal flower fabric will be the crib sheet I’m going to make (I’ll let you know how that goes…). Fabric is Legacy Studio Sunshine Floral Blooms Fabric from Joann’s.

-Yellow fabric is the crib skirt I had with Savannah

-Yellow with flower thing is a hanging lantern from Target (I found on clearance for $4!)

-The pieces of wood is from the crib a church family is letting us borrow since we needed a new one (Praise for that blessing!), it also happens to be the color of my glider I’ve had since Savannah.

I’m excited with where this is going. Like I said, I’d like to have some bird accents in there too, especially in art and the mobile. Isn’t Etsy awesome for cool art? I’m also pretty much in love with Pintrest, such great ideas and inspiration on there.

We’re hoping to get extra furniture moved out of the room this weekend and get some paint on the walls (goodbye cotton candy pink, woo hoo!). And, of course, once that dries I’ll be itching to get the crib set up :-) Tonight I’m working on the crib sheet as soon as I hit publish so it’ll be ready for the crib, assuming sewing goes well.

Progress is always a good feeling!
