yay advent conspiracy!! i emailed you that!
my mom has always had the rule that christmas is jesus’s birthday and when we give gifts to each other, we give to him! yes this is true, BUT she also does far more for our birthdays in terms of gift giving since those days are more personal about us. christmas is about worship and helping the less fortunate. most gifts DO get thrown to the side soon after the holiday anyways. kinda sick we spend 450 billion on christmas and we could solve world water 45 times if we didnt. i’m giving time, crafts and artsy gifts this christmas. forget the “stuff.”

I’m on the same page as you right now. I actually did go crazy with the presents this year and then I started thinking about how many children I could have sponsored with that money or how much food I could have given to the hungry In my town. Dallas has a lot of hungry people. It’s heartbreaking. I loved the video. I actually watched another one last night that is similar. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the nooma videos, but this guy Rob Bell does them and he always makes me think really hard about my life. The one last night was called Rich and it was really moving.
Anyway, I ramble. The point is I agree.

I haven’t seen that video before, but thank you so much for sharing it. I’ve spent the past I don’t know how many weeks trying to figure out how we’re going to buy this & that, and what to get for the kids, etc…but really, we have all that we need here. We should be spending less & giving more. Thank you for that message this morning. :)
