Apparently, I am not meant to have a free photobook. Last weekend, Inkubook was giving away free photobooks to readers of Simple Mom. So, I upload all the photos and patiently waited…and waited…and waited…
The program froze on me. I got tired of waiting and just left it be, not wanting to try again and waste my time. Plus, I knew that I still had a free book from Snapfish thanks to Oprah.
So, tonight I realized was the last day to take advantage of the Snapfish offer and I got to it. I just spent the last two-three hours carefully choosing the right photos (sorting through HUNDREDS). I’d gotten through 10 pages of designing my book…and see that the credit isn’t in my account anymore. WHAT?! I just wasted MORE of my time for nothing? I’m not about to pay that huge chunk of money they now want me to pay. And? Even if I did want to order it? It’s now gone into the world of cyber space, never to be seen again. Even thought I hit ‘save.’
GAH, I’m ticked. Stop wasting my time photobook sites!

Blurb – you download the program and it auto saves. I’ve had no problems with it. I haven’t seen the final product yet but I know Jenna said she was impressed when she got her Father’s Day books. They currently have free shipping. Not as good as free but better than nothing :)

I would be highly upset if that happened to me. Well, it has, but luckily I had just started when the book just magically disappeared. I love Shutterfly, even those it usually costs more. But I’m able to piece together coupon codes from here and there until it’s pretty reasonable…

You know, a lot of people had issues with Inkubook, which really annoys me. So sorry you did, too. I’ve made all mine on Photoworks.com, and I had no issues.
Do you have a Mac? Apparently most people that had problems were on Macs (which is what I have).

Inkubook is really bad. I had to hire someone to come fix my computer after I installed that program of theirs on my computer. Thanks for that $75 bill, Inkubook!

I have to second Blurb. I’ve never had an issue, there are more options and the price is the best.

I think you should try out Mixbook – they have an easy, online scrapbook editor that is totally free to use and requires no download at all. You can add stickers, backgrounds and choose from a bunch of fonts to fully customize your books.
And they’ve got great prices and softcover and hardcover photo books.
Check it out at http://www.mixbook.com.
Just FYI – I am one of the founders, so I’m a little biased. Feel free to email us with questions at support at mixbook dot com.

I know it’s been a while since you posted this, but I wanted to let readers know about my experience with Inkubook. Same thing happened with stuff freezing. I paid $15 for a Groupon…. after chatting with support today and having them give me PC based instructions despite me telling them twice I was on a mac, this is what they said:
NIKI: do you guys have known issues on macs?
NIKI: this is so ridiculous!
NIKI: the edit, invite, buy, and share buttons dont work
Francine: Yes, Inkubook is mainly supported by MS silverlight and silverlight does not play well with MAC.
NIKI: the copy and delete dont work either
NIKI: so can i get a refund for my groupon?
NIKI: i dont have a pc
NIKI: all my photos are on my mac
NIKI: ive spend hours messing witht his stuff
Francine: Inkubook will run on MAC if it is an intel PC. But still not 100% glitch free.
NIKI: that wasn’t in the fine print on the groupon i bought
Francine: I really do apologize but according to our FAQs it is stated there already about MAC users going for Inkubook.
NIKI: so can i get a refund?
NIKI: or do i need to go to groupon?
Francine: According to FAQ General Questions article 2 and 3 about silverlight and MAC.
NIKI: so can i get a refund????
NIKI: since it doesnt work?
Francine: If you want a refund you need to contact Groupon.
Francine: You can raise the concern to Groupon directly.
Francine: Will there be anything else that I can assist you with?
NIKI: inkubook is a horrible company. i know it’s not your fault. that will be all.
Francine: I do apologize, but we are not a horrible company. It is about understanding the system and softwares and how it operates. By the way Groupon is a separate entity.
